My interest in making jewelry started in 2003. During this year, mothers' bracelets were the new 'hot item', so I wanted to make a couple; one for my mother, and one for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. Believing it would be less expensive to make the bracelets, I decided to take on that task.
I headed to a bead shop, opened the door, walked in, and froze at the top of the steps. Looking down I saw a lot of people with trays walking around, and strands of beads hanging from each wall. There was so much going on that I did not know where to start, so I turned around and walked out the door. I needed a new plan.

Later that day, I searched the internet for different examples of mother bracelets and found what I wanted. The next week I went back to the bead shop and asked for help on getting started. A lady directed me to a jewelry kit that contained everything I needed. I have been making jewelry since that day and was inspired by many to start JMR in 2005.
